Mannal House is a landmark building on the Isle of Tiree; both in terms of its size and location on the South West Coast close to the Hynish Centre.
The house had fallen into disrepair and had been unoccupied for many years until our clients saw its potential and decided to invest in the future of the property.
Their plan was to move to the island from the mainland for a change in lifestyle and convert the property into a 5 bedroom house. The project was particularly ambitious because they planned to take on a significant portion of the work themselves.
We worked with our clients to redesign the internal layout of the house to address their needs by reconfiguring the central stairway and maximising the available bedroom space and wash room facilities. This led to the design of a two-and-a-half storey extension to the seaward facade, which also helped to expand the ground floor to accommodate open plan living and dining space that exploited the sea view.
Central to our role on this project was helping to guide our client through the renovation process, obtain the necessary consents and assist them in finding a local contractor that this well suited to their specific needs and interests.
